INTRODUCTION


Dr. McCormick joined the Psychology Department at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ in 1982, after receiving her degree from the University of Minnesota in 1976 and after working as a school psychologist for several years. She taught Child Psychology, Psychology of the Adolescent and Young Adult, and Psycho-educational Assessment of Preschool Children.

Dr. McCormick collaborated for over 20 years in research on the emergence of literacy skills with Dr. Jana Mason at the University of Illinois. This research led to the development and publication of five sets of "Little Books" designed to promote early literacy skills in young children.

She was named the Psi Chi Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year in 1984 and in 2009; she received the College of Sciences Distinguished Service Award in 2004 and served as Commencement Marshal for the College of Sciences in 2006.
