Subject: Testing of Alert ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ on Tuesday, February 5
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:
In conjunction with the normal monthly emergency siren tests that will be conducted by the City of Charleston and the University on Tuesday, February 5, the University will send out a test of the Alert ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ text message system at approximately 10:30 a.m. This test message will clearly state that it is a test.
Alert ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ text messages are only sent in emergency situations that are considered to represent a serious or continuing threat to students and employees. If you are not already registered for the Alert ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ text message system, I encourage you to do so by going to the Alert ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ website at http://www.eiu.edu/alerteiu/.
The Alert ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ text message system is one element of the University's Campus Emergency Notification System. This system also includes the siren/public address system, emergency email notification system, a phone tree that notifies key individuals about an emergency so that they can post the information in accessible locations for public awareness, and radio and television announcements.
Sincerely,
Dan Nadler
Vice President for Student Affairs
